DART, Iowa’s largest transit agency, partnered with QRyde to modernize vanpool services across 22 counties. Facing the need for a scalable, tech-driven alternative to long-distance single-occupancy commuting, DART launched Caravan by DART using QRyde’s vanpool platform to automate ride-matching, simplify scheduling, and manage vehicle maintenance for groups of 5–12 commuters traveling at least 30 miles round trip.

QRyde implemented digital payments, rider/driver mobile apps, monthly billing, Dispatch 360 for vehicle tracking and maintenance, and reporting dashboards to meet federal data requirements. The QRyde-enabled program delivers measurable impact—estimated commuter savings of $1,500 per year, drivers retain 150–200 personal miles monthly, each vanpool can remove up to 11 cars from the road, and employer commuter benefits can further reduce costs and taxes—while expanding dependable shared-ride service across DART’s service area.
