A QRyde Case Study
The City of Chelsea, MA engaged QRyde to deliver food boxes to residents quarantining or facing financial hardship during the COVID-19 pandemic. Chelsea’s main challenges were coordinating communication between food providers, drivers and city staff and establishing the most efficient delivery routes; QRyde provided its Community Portal for bookings and the QRyde Driver mobile app with IVR/SMS notifications to enable contact-free drop-offs.
QRyde coordinated weekday pickups, optimized driver routes, and required drivers to document deliveries with photos via the app; recipients received IVR and SMS alerts at arrival. The program delivered hundreds of food boxes (reports cite 478 and 251 in three-week periods), served 172 households (519 adults, 298 children), achieved an 83% increase in efficiency, and lowered operating costs and carbon footprint.
