Miami International Airport (MIA) needed to strengthen airport-wide security and add a dedicated runway incursion solution to help ensure safety, prevent smuggling, and protect its busy passenger and cargo operations. To address this, MIA turned to Qognify and its NiceVision video management solution, along with video and data analytics and Situator for integrated monitoring and incident response.

Qognify implemented a phased, open-platform solution that connected 2,600 video channels, upgraded 2,000 analog cameras with IP capabilities, and added runway and taxiway intrusion detection using smart cameras, analytics, radar, GPS, and vehicle tracking. The result was enhanced security and situational awareness across the airport, automated operator workflows, fewer false alarms, and a break-even cost model through the ability to provide video surveillance services to airlines.
