Baylor University, the oldest continually operating university in Texas, needed a scalable video surveillance solution to improve campus safety across its 1,000-acre campus and more than 85 buildings. It wanted a system that could support both centralized and decentralized management, control access for different departments, and protect student privacy while helping the Baylor University Police Department respond more effectively to more than 10,000 calls a year. Qognify’s NiceVision video management solution was selected to meet those needs.

Qognify implemented NiceVision with over 550 cameras and Qognify NVRs, enabling flexible permissions, restricted access to recorded video, and a separate network for video traffic so it would not interfere with campus systems. The result was extensive IP video coverage, stronger investigative capabilities, and a major decline in criminal activity, with the university attributing the improvement to both the deterrent effect of cameras and the availability of high-quality evidence. Baylor also reported that more people admitted involvement in illegal activities, showing a measurable security impact from Qognify.
