The Harper, a 24-story residential tower in Philadelphia, faced the challenge of designing and detailing numerous complex, non-traditional steel connections for its heavy framing. The project team, including The Harman Group and River City Detailers, sought a solution to optimize these atypical connections efficiently and turned to the Qnect software service from vendor Qnnect.

Using Qnect, the team was able to rapidly generate accurate connection maps and iterate on different connection options, which optimized the design process. The solution significantly improved efficiency by automatically detecting model changes and re-engineering affected connections during revisions, which circumvented unnecessary RFIs. Detailer Karl Wiebe of River City Detailers found Qnect intuitive to learn and estimated that the software could be beneficial for about 60% of their future projects.
