A Qnect Case Study
The customer, a large data center, faced high costs on a major West Coast project due to its specifications mandating the exclusive use of shear plate connections, which were labor-intensive and required a high number of bolts. They engaged the vendor, Qnect, and utilized its analytics software to model and analyze the structural connections for the project.
Using its powerful software, Qnect rapidly engineered and analyzed hundreds of alternative connection designs. This process identified that switching from shear plates to double angle connections on the beam-to-column web joints would drastically reduce the number of field bolts required. The solution proposed by Qnect was approved, leading to a significant reduction in fabrication and erection labor and materials, which saved the project a total of $600,000.
