Capricorn’s Idea Management Journey in the Automotive Aftermarket Industry

Capricorn, a 27,000-member cooperative supporting the automotive aftermarket industry in Australia and New Zealand, needed a better way to drive innovation across a dispersed workforce and help small-business members adapt to major industry shifts like EVs, connected vehicles, and changing customer expectations. To meet this challenge, Capricorn turned to Qmarkets and its idea management software, CAP Innovate.

Qmarkets implemented a configurable idea management platform with multiple campaign “engines,” stage-gate evaluation, and an always-open ideas channel to capture employee input across the business. In its first year, the program achieved a 38.5% engagement rate, generated 240 ideas, and delivered 43 implemented ideas with 50 more in evaluation; it also recorded 408 comments and 90 unique idea submitters. One standout idea is a drone delivery trial for car parts, and Capricorn plans to expand the platform further with SharePoint and Microsoft Teams integrations.
