Using proteomics to understand cardiovascular disease

The Center for Interdisciplinary Cardiovascular Sciences (CICS), founded by Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Kowa Company Ltd., studies cardiovascular disease with a strong focus on proteomics. Its researchers needed a way to analyze large mass spectrometry datasets and make sense of protein changes across conditions and time courses while minimizing experimental noise and supporting independent statistical analysis by biologists. Qlucore’s data analysis and visualization software was used for this work.

Qlucore provided an intuitive platform for visualizing and analyzing proteomics data through tools such as principal component analysis, hierarchical clustering, and heat maps. The solution helped CICS identify trends in protein abundance, reveal sub-proteomes in HDL fractions, and generate publication-ready figures. As a result, biologists gained more control over their data while informaticians could focus on more advanced analysis, and Qlucore became a permanent fixture in the center’s proteomics workflow.
