A Qlucore Case Study
The National Institute of Nutrition and Seafood Research (NIFES) studies how environmental contaminants and nutrients in fish affect human and human health, but its researchers faced the challenge of making sense of very large, complex omics datasets. Qlucore’s Omics Explorer was used to help Dr. Josef Rasinger and Dr. Kai Kristoffer Lie analyze multilevel transcriptomics, proteomics, and metabolomics data more efficiently.
With Qlucore, NIFES gained a fast, intuitive way to visualize and compare thousands of changing features using PCA plots and heat maps on a single platform, making it easier to spot meaningful patterns and plan follow-up studies. Qlucore helped the team identify how persistent organic pollutants accumulated in mouse brains and suggested disruption of calcium and zinc homeostasis, while also supporting further findings that nutrients such as selenium, vitamin E, and vitamin A may counteract pollutant effects.
