World-Famous Hospital Uses QlikView to Find Efficiency Savings

Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, home to Addenbrooke’s Hospital and more than 7,000 staff, faced pressure to deliver 3–4% annual efficiency savings while improving transparency and access to patient-level costing. The trust needed a web-based BI solution that would integrate Oracle finance, HR and patient systems and make information easier to understand and use across clinicians and managers.

The trust implemented QlikView initially for patient-level costing and then extended it to patient care, safety, experience, clinical excellence and finance, with about 1,000 users. By democratising data and enabling drill-down to patient- and staff-level metrics, managers now make faster, better-informed decisions, attributing resources and costs more accurately and delivering substantial efficiency improvements and a strong ROI.
