Case Study: Vancouver Airport Authority achieves faster passenger connections and streamlined operations with Qlik

A Qlik Case Study

Preview of the Vancouver Airport Authority Case Study

Vancouver Airport Authority - Customer Case Study

Vancouver International Airport (YVR), Canada’s second-busiest airport and a major Asia–North America hub, needed to become more data-driven to stay competitive and handle rapid passenger, baggage and aircraft growth within fixed physical limits. Legacy reporting could not scale or deliver near‑real‑time insights—critical for lowering minimum connection time (MCT) and optimizing operations—so analysts lacked access to timely, granular event data from dozens of systems.

YVR built an enterprise data hub using Qlik (QlikView for ingestion and Qlik Sense for analytics), replicated data into zones including a permanent Raw Zone, and deployed self‑service dashboards and cataloging tools. The capacity management dashboard cut an MCT query from 33 hours to nightly (with hourly capability), enabled drill‑downs to sub‑processes, and powered gate optimization and real‑time situational awareness—democratizing analysis, improving operational decision‑making, and supporting future growth with a lean analytics team.
