A Qlik Case Study
The University of Bologna, together with CINECA (an interuniversity consortium), needed a way to move beyond historical HR reporting and accurately model future personnel costs and career events. With growing autonomy and competitive pressure on Italian universities, leadership wanted a system to consolidate administrative data, simulate scenarios like promotions, retirements and role changes, and improve oversight of teaching and technical‑administrative staff.
They deployed QlikView quickly to leverage the existing data warehouse, using its in‑memory associative engine and dashboarding to run simulations of ten macro‑events and full staff lifecycle scenarios. The solution produced complete, customizable personnel simulations—from recruitment to turnover—sped up staff‑flow analysis, improved forecasting accuracy and decision support for management, and proved adaptable for other universities.
