Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB), Malaysia’s largest electricity utility with 9.2 million customers, set out to become a leading sustainable energy provider under its “Reimagining TNB” strategy. The Group Finance Division needed to centralize business performance reporting, improve data integrity and compliance, and shift finance from process manager to value creator while reducing the time and effort required to track revenue, costs and regulatory metrics.
Working with Qlik, TNB built a centralized Business Performance Management dashboard that consolidates heterogeneous data sources, integrates with a data warehouse, and provides interactive, automated reporting and collaborative analytics. The solution cut report preparation time by 75%, sped up performance review meetings by 20%, saved thousands of hours through automation, enabled faster, more accurate decisions (including automated analysis of maintenance costs), and fostered a more action‑oriented, collaborative performance culture.
