A Qlik Case Study
HSBC, a global bank serving over 40 million customers, faced sprawling, fragmented data across many countries and teams. The challenge was to simplify complex data management so information could be trusted, consistently defined, and owned organisation-wide rather than sitting unused or misunderstood.
HSBC distilled its approach into five core concepts—what, where, why, impact and fitness—then built lineage diagrams, a common data dictionary, an application inventory and a business-process repository, and used Qlik dashboards to track data lifecycles and quality. The result was clearer linkage of data to business uses, shared responsibility for data integrity, more actionable dashboards for frontline and executive decisions, and higher adoption across the organisation.
