A Qlik Case Study
Sistema de Emergencias Médicas (SEM) is a public emergency medical service within Catalonia’s Health Department that handles outpatient emergencies and medical transport—over four million calls in the past year—with 701 staff, 3,720 associates and a €245.7M annual budget. SEM needed to speed up and improve service efficiency, implement management-by-objectives and develop management-control scorecards while integrating data from diverse systems and making reports accessible via the web.
Pragma Solucions implemented QlikView to create five scorecards covering clinical support, finance, people/strategy, territorial structure and demand indicators, pulling data from Oracle, SQL Server and Excel into a single environment. The deployment (21 initial users) greatly reduced time to retrieve and distribute activity information, relieved ICT of reporting tasks, supported the new management-by-objectives policy and territorial decentralisation, and delivered an immediate positive impact with wider rollout planned.
