QlikView lowers costs and increases availability for Blekinge County Council

Blekinge County Council, a Swedish healthcare provider handling more than 500,000 patient visits a year, needed to cut spending on prescribed medicines, shorten patient waiting times and increase capacity without adding resources. The council wanted better visibility into prescription patterns and patient flows to improve availability and control costs.

Blekinge deployed QlikView to 2,400 users and built applications in four weeks that pull data from systems like Conrad, Melior, Prima, Provisio and Raindance to analyze invoices, prescriptions and patient flow. The prescription-analysis and flow-chart apps enabled data-driven decisions and accountability, delivering a 5% reduction in medicine costs (€850,000 annually), shorter waiting times, improved operational efficiency and low maintenance with staff handling 99% of implementations.
