QlikView helps Zurich Insurance manage its risk

Zurich Insurance’s Nordic division in Stockholm, a market leader serving large corporate customers (about 45% market share and €150M revenue), needed faster, more flexible risk and profitability analysis for underwriters. Relying on an in‑house system (FIRST) and MS Access created bottlenecks: analysts had to contact specialists for new reports, slowing decision‑making across customers, products, claims and countries.

Zurich deployed QlikView to about 75 users, linking data from FIRST, Access and Excel, normalizing keys and currency and providing monthly updates. The change cut report‑development workload by 96% (from seven full‑time staff to two people working a few days a month), removed the need for a full‑time Access expert, reduced training, and enabled faster, better‑informed underwriting decisions that improved business outcomes.
