QlikView Delivering the Right Treatment for Sahlgrenska University Hospital

Sahlgrenska University Hospital in Gothenburg, one of Northern Europe’s largest hospitals, faced a critical data challenge: patient information was scattered across Siemens Melior and five other systems, making it slow and difficult for clinicians to get the full picture needed to diagnose and treat severe head injuries. Neurosurgery lead Daniel Stålhammar sought a way to quickly aggregate and analyze medical records to improve decision-making and patient outcomes.

The hospital deployed QlikView (to 25 users across two functions) to integrate six databases and present consolidated patient views in seconds, reducing time to access critical information by 99%. The solution enabled faster, data-driven decisions, eliminated cranial surgery complications, and delivered roughly €750,000 in annual savings while improving the ability to analyze patient history, treatments and outcomes.
