Qlik Gold Client® achieves Safe Harbor objectives and reduces refresh requirements of Mentor Graphics

Mentor Graphics, a global leader in electronic hardware and software design with ~4,700 employees, needed to meet U.S.–EU Safe Harbor privacy requirements while preserving data integrity in its SAP production environment. The company also faced disruptive, time-consuming quarterly SAP system refreshes that drained development resources and had a hard fiscal-year deadline and budget for a solution.

Mentor deployed Qlik Gold Client (contract signed and initial implementation completed in about 90 days, with a one-week onsite rollout) to mask, replace and scramble personal data and to selectively copy data subsets via features like Data Snap. The solution delivered Safe Harbor compliance, reduced refresh effort (recovering multiple days per refresh and saving at least six days across teams in year one), freed BASIS staff for other projects, enabled 15+ users to access QA systems, and allowed safe troubleshooting by pulling production data into preproduction—saving time and money.
