Police Develop QlikView For Intelligent Reporting At User Level

Devon and Cornwall Police, which serves 1.6 million people across England’s largest police area and a workforce of about 6,000, faced fragmented legacy systems and heavy reliance on Excel that made granular, timely performance and intelligence reporting difficult. The Force needed better resource allocation, support for intelligence‑led policing, and improved information flow to the community and external reviewers.

The Force deployed QlikView in 2008 to integrate multiple data sources (Northgate, Oracle, Excel), build ~30 in‑house applications and deliver dashboards and drill‑down reports, later exposing self‑service reporting through SharePoint. The result was near‑real‑time, organisation‑wide performance monitoring, faster automated analysis for crime and forensics, improved resource allocation and transparency, and broader staff access to reporting.
