Openreach builds a new vision of directive data with actionable Qlik insights

Openreach, the organization that builds and maintains the UK’s national broadband and telephone network, faced a sprawling, inconsistent reporting landscape that hindered efficiency as it rolled out a nationwide full-fibre (FTTP) upgrade. With some 37,000 staff, the country’s second-largest vehicle fleet and complex project delivery needs, the business relied on disconnected spreadsheet reports that caused duplication, poor governance and slow time-to-insight—threatening costs, delivery schedules and operational coordination.

Openreach replaced spreadsheet-based reporting with a centralized Qlik Sense platform and formed a dedicated Data and Insight (ODI) team, creating a single source of truth and lifting data literacy across the business. The unified dashboards and analytics enabled faster, actionable decisions: delivery times for high-speed Ethernet services were cut in half, FTTP costs and delivery performance significantly improved, regulatory obligations were met more effectively, and field engineering and fleet usage could be tracked and optimized in real time.
