Nationwide Commercial, the commercial lending division of Nationwide Building Society, manages a c.£20 billion loan portfolio across sectors such as office, residential, industrial and social housing. Facing millions of rows of loan data, the team needed a holistic, fast way to analyse portfolio behaviour, forecast risk, meet growing regulatory and governance demands, and optimise capital and returns for members.

Nationwide deployed QlikView as a self-service, in-memory BI platform for senior managers, building two apps (a portfolio overlay and a ProMS forecast analyser) that went live in 10 and 6 days respectively. The solution delivered real-time, visual “what-if” analysis and faster, more accurate monthly reporting, improved risk insight and compliance response, broader staff adoption (about 25% initially), and quicker, proactive portfolio management with clear ROI.
