A Qlik Case Study
The National University of Singapore (NUS) Business School tasked adjunct professor Keith Carter with replacing a textbook-based purchasing and materials management course with a practical, industry-focused curriculum that builds students’ data-analytics skills — and he had only two weeks to design it. The challenge was to reinvigorate learning by giving students real-world experience with big data tools so they could analyze business problems across industries.
Carter joined the QlikView Academic Program, quickly deployed QlikView into the core curriculum, and used hands-on assignments and group projects (analyzing firms like Singapore Airlines and Heineken) to teach corporate and supply-chain analytics. The result was stronger student engagement and analytics capability, several graduates moving into supply-chain roles, and tangible business impact — including a student analysis that revealed roughly $2M in potential savings for a participating company.
