Macquarie University gives students essential real-world experience

Macquarie University in Sydney, which educates over 44,000 students, faced the challenge of ensuring graduates are market-ready by giving them practical, commercial data‑analytics experience as part of its PACE work‑integrated learning program. The university needed accessible tools and training to support students through capstone projects and to expand analytics capabilities across undergraduate and postgraduate courses.

Macquarie deployed the Qlik Academic Program—providing Qlik Sense software, training, workshops and certifications—into a 13‑week capstone and other modules. The hands‑on approach and strong vendor support helped students quickly build dashboards and insights from real industry data, earning positive feedback from both lecturers and students and improving students’ job readiness; the university plans to expand Qlik use and collaboration further.
