A Qlik Case Study
Hitachi Omika Works, a Hitachi factory that designs and manufactures information control systems for power, rail, water and industrial sectors, struggled with tightened parts supply and growing customization demands exacerbated by COVID-19. Managing hundreds of thousands of part records in Excel made it difficult to identify bottlenecks, assess risk, and respond quickly to sudden workload increases, so the company launched a Supply Chain Management Center in 2022 to improve visibility and risk analysis.
The team deployed Qlik Sense—with a Self‑ETL Assistant to import complex Excel data—using agile development to deliver a unified dashboard in six months that integrates procurement, production, staffing and testing data. The solution standardized KPIs, enabled real‑time visualizations for quicker decisions, reduced time spent confirming delivery dates by up to 33%, made graphing instantaneous, cut losses, and set the stage for expanded forecasting, alerts and text‑mining.
