Hauni Maschinenbau, a Hamburg‑based mechanical engineering leader for the international tobacco industry and part of the Körber group (3,750 employees, 20 sites, €685M turnover in 2008), faced the challenge of consolidating several companies’ disparate databases into a single reporting tool and tracing procurement activity that occurred outside standard channels, including unauthorised decentralized purchases by departments.

Hauni implemented QlikView as an information platform for purchasing analysis and reporting: a purchasing cockpit used by about 30 employees, supplier controls with standardized quality indicators, and commodity‑class purchasing analysis. The solution delivered transparent, measurable supplier and purchasing performance for managers, provided up‑to‑date figures to support supplier negotiations, and made purchasing activity visible across divisions.
