Energy Safe Victoria (ESV), the technical regulator for electricity, gas and pipelines in Victoria serving about seven million people, faced slow, manual audit processes and limited visibility into results, trends and systemic issues. Paper-based inspections and Excel analysis made it hard to collect consistent, high‑quality field data, benchmark performance or allocate scarce analytical resources across remote worksites.

Partnering with Cast Solutions, ESV deployed a Qlik Sense–based digital audit platform—mobile tablets with geo‑tagging, workflow tools (Inphinity Forms, iAuditor), data modelling and one‑click reporting—to centralize and automate data capture and analysis. The change cut audit time from ~150 to ~50 man‑hours (saving ~100 hours per audit), reduced up to five process steps to one, improved data anomalies/human error by ~60%, and enabled faster, more targeted regulation and scalable reuse across risk areas.
