Energiedienstholding, a long-established utilities group (power and gas) with 710 employees and €694M turnover in 2008 and majority-owned by EnBW, faced growing reporting and analysis demands across seven parallel accounting systems. Their SAP-BW environment proved too slow and inflexible for individual, ad-hoc filters, forcing essential reporting and planning to be done manually in Excel and creating a bottleneck for finance and operational teams.

Energiedienstholding implemented QlikView to consolidate data from SAP (FI-CO, ISU), Microsoft Navision and other sources, delivering cost-centre and order analysis for specialist departments, external reporting, management dashboards and company-level analysis including power coordination. The rollout produced rapid, consistent and comparable information, enabled cross-departmental analyses, reduced IT costs, required minimal user training, and significantly increased the speed, depth and flexibility of analysis.
