Driving Customer Outcomes with Data to Ensure Workplace Safety

SafeWork NSW is the New South Wales government regulator for workplace health and safety, overseeing around 780,000 workplaces and 4 million workers with a 500‑person team. The agency’s legacy reporting was fragmented and manual—over 700 reports drawn from 26 disparate data sources—leading to high labour costs, inconsistent timeliness and managers making decisions by perception rather than facts.

SafeWork implemented Qlik Sense to build a user-focused reporting platform and operational balanced scorecard, rationalising data sources to 12 and delivering the solution in nine months for $340k (versus an estimated $1M/2 years). A phased rollout moved from simple visualisations to forecasting and portfolio mapping, driving steady user adoption, “super users” and automated executive dashboards via NPrinting—resulting in more data-driven decision-making, improved service delivery and better support for workplace safety outcomes.
