Data helps optimize major airport Findings used to reduce minimum connection time

Vancouver International Airport (YVR) wanted to strengthen its position as the Trans‑Pacific hub of choice by gaining near real‑time visibility into how passengers, bags and planes move through the airport. The challenge was to use that data to optimize intertwined subprocesses—security, customs, baggage screening—and reduce the airport’s minimum connection time while improving the passenger experience.

Qlik partner GINQO delivered data integration and analytics apps and built a new data hub combining Qlik with Snowflake to unify sources like Oracle and SQL Server. As a result, YVR substantially reduced its minimum connection time, cut report run time from 33 hours to under one minute, and positioned its data infrastructure for future growth and greater agility.
