Riocard Mais, the largest electronic ticketing system in Brazil and Latin America, processes more than six million journeys a day across 72 cities and records two billion operations and 60 million financial transactions a year. As data volumes and complexity grew, the company struggled with slow, mainframe-bound reporting—requests could take up to 48 hours—and needed faster, simpler access to analyze user behavior, reduce fraud and help transport operators optimize resources.
Riocard Mais implemented Qlik Sense for self-service analytics, reporting and alerting, giving 50 internal users and hundreds of transport companies daily access to interactive dashboards. The solution enabled rapid fraud detection and blocking (including a 65% drop in fraud from mobile-app credit purchases), faster operational decisions during the COVID-19 ridership collapse, and improved planning and cost control across services.
