Capital & Coast District Health Board (CCDHB) in Wellington, New Zealand, employs about 2,800 nurses and midwives serving roughly 300,000 people. Facing rising patient acuity, CCDHB needed to better match nursing and midwifery capacity to patient need under the national Care Capacity Demand Management (CCDM) program, requiring deeper insights from multiple systems (including the mandated TrendCare acuity tool) to ensure the right staff are in the right place at the right time.

CCDHB deployed Qlik Sense and Qlik Sense Mashups to create a CCDM dashboard that consolidates TrendCare, payroll, rostering, incident management and patient administration data into a single ward-to-board view. The solution improved data completeness and transparency, enabled data literacy and local improvement councils to act on control-chart insights, increased user adoption, and drove data‑driven decisions that enhanced patient care and staff work experience.
