The Akron Beacon Journal, a Pulitzer Prize–winning Ohio newspaper with daily circulation over 122,000, needed better visibility into advertising performance to identify revenue growth opportunities across customers, ad types, placements, products, sales teams and individual reps. Leaders sought a way to measure sales and financial performance more granularly to spot gaps and drive ad revenue.
Using Mactive Analytix with QlikView, the paper rolled out analytics to 136 users for financial and sales advertising analysis—measuring revenue by GL, tracking variances by order/customer/rep, examining insertion-level charges and credits, and monitoring revenue, inches and average ad rates by placement, product and rep. The solution improved ad revenue growth through actionable visibility, enabled fast drill-downs for timely decisions, and reduced time spent on manual reporting for business and IT teams.
