Aggregate Industries Replaces Cognos With Qlikview, Cutting Costs By 30 Per Cent

Aggregate Industries, a UK-based supplier and manufacturer of heavy building materials and part of the Holcim Group, faced pressure to improve performance and reduce costs across a competitive construction market. With more than 300 sites and vast operational data, the company needed faster access to customer and KPI insight and to lower the ongoing cost of its Cognos BI system.

To address this, Aggregate Industries replaced Cognos with QlikView (implemented with partner Data Technology), rolling the platform out to 150 users and providing executives mobile access. The £250,000 implementation delivered rapid, self-service analytics (specialist apps built in 2–3 days), integrated data from all sites, and cut BI total cost of ownership by about 30%, while improving customer insight and operational decision-making.
