A QAD Case Study
Hood Packaging Corporation, a 100‑year‑old flexible packaging manufacturer with 20 production facilities across the U.S. and Canada (12 paper, 8 plastics), struggled with aging, costly machinery (some up to 40 years old) and fragmented, plant‑level maintenance systems. Siloed practices gave poor visibility into machine performance and maintenance costs, making preventative maintenance, accurate cost allocation, and informed replacement decisions difficult.
The company rolled out QAD Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) with a staged, standardized implementation and training plan (about three months per plant); eight sites are live so far. EAM centralized maintenance data, improved spare‑parts sharing (reducing replacement downtime from weeks to a day), refined cost allocation, automated requisitions and work orders, and enhanced preventive scheduling—resulting in better uptime, clearer cost decisions, and consistent maintenance practices across the enterprise.
