The customer, Saab Aerosystems, faced a significant challenge in re-implementing the safety-critical Stores Management Unit for the Gripen fighter aircraft to the stringent DO-178B Level A standard. They needed a rigorous testing solution for both their host and target development environments. To meet this need, Saab selected and implemented AdaTEST 95 from vendor QA Systems for comprehensive unit and integration testing.

QA Systems provided a solution that included both the standard AdaTEST 95 product for host-based testing and a customized version for the Ravenscar target environment. This enabled efficient testing with intelligent stubs and high automation, culminating in a fully automated regression system. The results were highly successful, dramatically demonstrated when a target compiler upgrade was validated by running a complete test suite in just three hours, which quickly identified new bugs and justified the investment in the QA Systems framework.
