A QA Systems Case Study
Marconi Communications, a major supplier of telecommunications equipment, sought a better way to produce large volumes of reliable C++ code in a cost-effective manner for its software-intensive products. The challenge involved improving their testing process to identify faults earlier in development, moving away from inconsistent usage of their existing tool, QA Systems' Cantata, due to conflicting internal testing methodologies.
By adopting QA Systems' Cantata, Marconi implemented a strategy of creating and maintaining tests parallel to code production. This approach, which included using Cantata's white box testing and wrapping features, allowed them to find errors earlier and automate regression testing. The results included approximately 10,000 lines of new code being tested, with engineers confirming that the tool helped them catch errors that would have otherwise been missed until a later stage.
