IOPSYS launches Suricata-powered network testing in 2021 with QA Cafe

QA Cafe helped IOPSYS leverage the Suricata threat detection engine to enhance their network and IoT product testing. The challenge was to move beyond traditional active testing to passively monitor device behavior for security issues, policy violations, and performance problems during development and quality assurance.

The solution implemented by QA Cafe integrated Suricata into their CDRouter and PassPort testing platforms. This allowed for real-time monitoring and analysis of traffic from devices under test, using both standard and dynamically-generated custom rules. As a result, QA Cafe enabled IOPSYS to identify compromised behavior, ensure sensitive data was not transmitted insecurely, and verify that functional policy changes were effective, ultimately leading to more robust and secure product deployments.
