IOPSYS, a provider of home and SOHO routers and WiFi network devices, faced the challenge of securing its products before deployment to avoid unnecessary costs, brand damage, and ensure a quality user experience. Their challenge was to observe and analyze the live network behavior of their devices to identify security flaws and ensure they adhered to deployment policies. To tackle this, they utilized QA Cafe's CDRouter Security add-on.

The solution implemented by QA Cafe used security traffic analysis powered by the Suricata IDS platform to passively monitor all traffic from the device under test that was bound for the Internet. This allowed IOPSYS to receive alerts for suspicious or policy-breaking behavior outside of predictable test traffic. The results provided critical insights into real-world device behavior, enabling the customer to catch potential security issues during testing, ensure compliance with provider policies, and perform effective regression testing after security fixes.
