Airbus targets 48-product supply chain optimization by 2028 with Q-CTRL

The customer, Airbus, faced the challenge of optimizing its highly complex global aircraft supply chain under strict cost, capacity, and sustainability constraints. This industrial-scale problem was computationally intractable for classical methods. Q-CTRL applied its Fire Opal performance-management software to address this.

Using a hybrid quantum optimization workflow, Q-CTRL successfully deployed solutions on quantum hardware at up to 98-qubit scales, achieving the optimal solution in every instance. The results validated a path to quantum-enhanced supply chains, with projections showing their solver will deliver high-quality solutions for a full 48-product industrial problem by 2028, improving resilience, efficiency, and sustainability for Airbus.
