Social Media Management Platform Benefits From Upgraded Security And Performance

A major social media management platform serving more than 15 million users needed to improve the security and performance of its MySQL authentication processes while reducing downtime and meeting GDPR requirements. Pythian, which had already been supporting the company since 2015, was brought in to help modernize access management using MySQL, ProxySQL, and HashiCorp Vault.

Pythian designed and implemented an automated environment for database user management, including a MySQL Bastion proxy and customized integration between Vault and ProxySQL for temporary access, auditing, and secure administration. The result was fully automated internal processes, significantly stronger security between users and databases, and improved MySQL scalability, reliability, and uptime, along with a larger feature set for developers.
