The Large American Online Retirement Planning Company, a long-time Pythian client, needed to reduce high Oracle licensing costs and cut the operational burden of maintaining on-premises database infrastructure. Pythian had already been providing Oracle DBA support, but the company wanted a more cost-effective path and explored moving its databases to the cloud with Pythian’s help.

Pythian recommended migrating from Oracle to Microsoft SQL Server and hosting the environment in Microsoft Azure. Pythian performed a feasibility study, built the new infrastructure, completed a proof of concept migration, and provided managed services during testing.
