Optiva needed to move more than 3,500 machines across 10 global data centers to Google Cloud within six months, but many systems were outdated and had licensing issues, and downtime had to be kept to a minimum so internal teams could keep working. Pythian supported Optiva’s cloud migration challenge with its DevOps and Cloud Migration services and Google Cloud expertise.

Pythian designed the optimal migration approach, used live migration to avoid disruption, and optimized servers and operating systems for the Google Cloud environment. As a result, Optiva achieved minimal downtime and cut annual data center costs by 90%, reducing spend from $15 million to $1.5 million.
