European Financial Services Company needed a way to scale its rapidly growing mobile payments system while breaking down data silos across more than 400 databases. It also wanted a secure, multi-tenant data platform that could support analytics teams and new business use cases without compromising banking-grade security. Pythian was brought in to help, using Hadoop and Cloudera Enterprise.

Pythian designed and implemented a secure enterprise data lake that integrated data from internal and external sources, with controlled access, sandboxing, and strong governance. The solution enabled new fraud detection capabilities, supported new mobile payment services, and improved customer experience. The bank expanded its production clusters from 11 to 27 nodes, reached 300 TB of HDFS usage, and reported lower provisioning and maintenance costs, higher productivity, and faster time to market.
