Pyramid’s Decision Intelligence Platform puts Export Packers on new trajectory for growth

Export Packers, an 80-year-old Canadian importer, exporter and distributor of food commodities and one of the country’s largest privately held companies, faced fragmented BI and legacy systems (Navision on SQL Server, Excel and hundreds of Access databases) that left leaders without actionable insight into inventory, sales, procurement or profitability. When Head of IT John Stakel joined in 2019 he was tasked with modernizing the technology stack and shifting the company culture away from PDFs and spreadsheets toward data-driven decision making.

They adopted Pyramid’s Decision Intelligence platform and rolled it out incrementally—building ETL and data models and deploying dashboards first for trading, then procurement and sales—so teams could compare old reports with new ones and build trust. The user-friendly platform delivered real-time alerts, faster time-to-insight, reduced manual work and chargebacks, clearer margin visibility, and an overall shift to evidence-based decisions that improved profitability and operational efficiency.
