The University of Pretoria, a large South African research university serving over 50,000 students, sought to raise student success by moving from course-level LMS reports to a holistic, institutional analytics capability. With key systems spread across on-premises and cloud environments (Blackboard, PeopleSoft, HEDA, student surveys, and historical national reporting data), UP needed an integrated, scalable platform to provide Faculty Student Advisors and executive leadership with timely descriptive and predictive insights to identify at-risk students and guide interventions.

Pyramid Analytics’ Decision Intelligence Platform, using its Pulse engine for hybrid cloud/on‑premises connectivity and data modeling, combined LMS, PeopleSoft, HEDA and survey data into one view, supported report bursting and a 250-user rollout, and enabled rapid cohort and course analyses. The result was faster “speed to answers,” more proactive interventions, better-informed executive reporting (including during COVID-19), and a measurable foundation for data-driven strategies that improved student outcomes and institutional decision making.
