Beach Bum boosted its DAU, MAU and retention x3 with automated messaging

Beach Bum, an interactive games company founded in 2015 with over 5 million users, needed to re-engage inactive gamers, grow monthly and daily active users, and boost in‑app purchases. To address this, Beach Bum partnered with Pushwoosh and configured three apps in Pushwoosh to deliver personalized, multilingual, automated push notifications (using emoji and a custom notification sound) that appear even when phones are locked.

Using Pushwoosh’s personalization, scheduling and custom-sound features, Beach Bum sent targeted retention and promotional pushes across Spades Royale, Rummy Stars and Backgammon. The campaign drove steady increases in total subscribers, DAU and MAU and strong engagement — average push CTR of about 8–12% (reported average 8.64%), with custom-sound messages yielding roughly 3× higher CTR — translating into higher conversions and more in‑app purchases.
