Case Study: Moviepilot achieves real-time build status updates with Pusher

A Pusher Case Study

Preview of the Moviepilot Case Study

Moviepilot’s realtime build status board

Moviepilot, a global network for film fans, needed a real-time build status dashboard for its Moviepilot Labs Shoutbox service. Their initial WebSockets server behaved inconsistently and required manual browser refreshes to see project status changes, so they turned to Pusher for a hosted realtime messaging solution.

By replacing the self-hosted server with Pusher, Shoutbox began updating instantly when messages were sent, eliminating manual refreshes and providing a constantly visible build-status board that saves team time and reduces the risk of missed failures. Because Pusher is hosted, Moviepilot could focus on using the dashboard instead of maintaining infrastructure, and they recommend Pusher over running their own WebSockets server.
