The 2020 Tokyo Olympics, held behind closed doors, needed to create an immersive and inclusive experience for the athletes present and to honor those who could not attend the ceremony. To achieve this, event studio Moment Factory partnered with APPIX Technology, which utilized Pusher Channels to power a realtime interactive light display.

APPIX implemented its luminaire feature, powered by the Pusher Channels API, to synchronize the smartphones of athletes in the stadium. This created a dazzling, time-synced light display that culminated in the formation of the Olympic Rings. The Pusher system passed the International Olympic Committee's rigorous technical tests and performed flawlessly, successfully delivering a poignant and memorable moment for a global audience.
