Woking Food and Drink Festival, organised by Woking Borough Council, needed to boost awareness and usage of its #WeAreWoking free public Wi‑Fi during the three‑day event and capture richer demographic and behavioural data to grow its contact database and improve community engagement. To achieve this, the council worked with Purple to deploy its guest Wi‑Fi service and analytics at the festival.

Purple implemented a customised guest Wi‑Fi experience with a branded splash page, social login and bespoke registration form, real‑time email follow‑ups and a £500 shopping‑voucher competition to incentivise first‑time logins. The campaign delivered measurable results: a 36% increase in active Wi‑Fi users, a 12% rise in newsletter signups, 13,209 newsletters sent (17.2% open rate, 4.92% CTR), and insights showing 50% of attendees were aged 18–34 — significantly expanding Woking Food and Drink Festival’s contactable audience and audience understanding.
